Blood components,functions and types
Blood's definition on Wikipedia web page goes thus: ''Blood is a body fluid in human and other animals that delivers necessary substances such as nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports metabolic waste products away from those same cells.''
Blood components
1) Red blood cells : They are also called ERYTHROCYTES. they transport oxygen from the lungs to the whole body.
2) White blood cells: They are also called LEUKOCYTES. They fight infections and help the immune system.
3) Platelets : They are also called THROMBOCYTES. They are of help as far as blood clothing is concerned.
4) Plasma : This is the liquid part of blood. It serve as a means of circulation for the other blood components.
IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD
1) it serves as a waste removal 2) it regulates the body ph 3) it regulates body temperature 4) it circulates the blood soldiers. ie. It circulates the white blood cells. 5) It supplies oxygen to the blood. 6) It supply nutrients to the body.
