ULCER, DEFINITION, TYPES AND CAUSES
According to Merriam-webster dictionary, ulcer literately means something that festers and corrupts like an open source. Medically, ulcer means a lesion that is eroding away the skin or mucous membrane.
There are three common types of ulcer , namely, Gastric ULCER, ESOPHAGEAL ULCER and DUODENAL ULCER. The three are generally called peptic ULCER.
DEFINITION OF EACH TYPE OF ULCER
1) GASTRIC ULCER is the type of ULCER that develop in the stomach compartment. It is a sore that is inside the stomach lining(gastric)
2) DUODENAL ULCER is the type of ulcer that develop in the upper section of duodenum i.e small intestine.
3) ESOPHAGEAL ULCER is the type of ulcer that develop inside the esophagus.
A person suffering from both GASTRIC ULCER AND DUODENAL ULCER a is medically termed to be suffering from GASTRODUODENAL ULCER.
The type of ulcer one is suffering from can be suggested through its symptoms, which is part of the way ulcer is diagnosed before its treatment comes forth
However, It is important that we know the causes of ulcer so that we can know how to prevent it
CAUSES OF ULCER
1) Consumption of alcohol is one of the common cause of ulcer.
2) As for a cancer patient, Radiation therapy can be the cause of your ulcer.
3) As for a smoker, smoking may be the cause of your ulcer.
4) When infected with HELICOBACTER PYLORI, an ulcer causing bacteria, you become an ulcer patient.
5) Constant consumption of anti-inflammatory drugs like IBUPROFEN and NAPROXEN can land into ULCER.
Also, constant consumption of acidic substances especially when your stomach is empty can cause you ulcer.
